Traditionally, the setup of rewards programs involved manual entry of BINs into systems, leading to a cumbersome process of checking card eligibility for offers. Subsequently, the sharing of data followed an ad-hoc pattern, often resulting in customers waiting a month or more to access the discounts they signed up for.

DONAL’S STRATEGIC INITIATIVE

Building the Future with BIN Lookup API: Donal undertook the challenge of constructing the BIN Lookup API product, a groundbreaking data-sharing service facilitating easier access to Bank Identification Number (BIN) data for Mastercard customers. During the planning phase, he meticulously designed the API to be use case agnostic, ensuring maximum flexibility for various customer types.

Strategic Leadership in API Design: In his role overseeing the product's strategic approach, Donal played a key role in developing the API design with flexibility in mind. Collaborating closely with diverse customer types, he sought fast feedback based on initial API specifications.

Innovative Collaboration for Efficiency: Donal's flexible approach uncovered an opportunity to collaborate with internal teams specializing in Loyalty and Rewards partnerships. This collaboration aimed to automate onboarding processes, ensuring seamless access to the most up-to-date BIN data.

ACHIEVEMENTS

Strategic Rollout and Impactful Partnerships: Guided by Donal's vision, the BIN Lookup product was successfully launched, fostering five strategic internal partnerships. This initiative played a pivotal role in securing over 100 new deals, contributing to millions in core revenue, and realizing significant efficiency gains by saving over five months annually in manual tasks.
